Unlike the big DIY chain stores and many other suppliers who only sell a limited range of coloured  Onduline sheets, nails and few accessories.  SLE Cladding Ltd sell the full range of Onduline Sheets and their Accessories as well as the other Onduline products that are available in the UK.

Coloured Bitumen Sheets

Introduction by SLE Cladding Ltd.  Onduline Sheeting is manufactured in Rouen, France and imported into the UK. It is used extensively in Europe but until recently it has not been so popular in Britain by reason of it needing a lot of support. The British favour long sheets (Onduline comes in 2 metre long sheets only) and purlins as wide apart as possible and few in numbers. (Onduline needs a a lot of support)

Having said that it does have its many good points. It's lightweight and thus suitable for oversheeting. It's flexible for un-even and curved roofs, it's very environmentally friendly, containing only bitumen and vegetable fibres and no metal. This makes it ideal for coastal regions, where salt spray corrodes metal and also in some corrosive industrial environments.

Whilst it will never challenge the dominance of Plastic Coated Steels and Fibre-cement it the UK, it does have a considerable niche market mainly in the leisure, DIY and  environmental areas. I.E  holiday chalets, sports pavilions, stables, farm shops, golf ranges, wild life watching shelters etc, and by reason of it being an excellent easy worked  DIY material, garden sheds, garages etc .

Warning. Don't erect it within the reach of livestock. A customer's donkey ate a hole in the side of it's brand new stable.

ONDULINE

What the manufacturers say.

A tough flexible, but lightweight roofing/cladding sheet manufactured from bitumen saturated organic fibres. Available in five environmentally sensitive colours giving an attractive finish and long life at an economic price, BBA Approved. An ideal replacement for corrugated, asbestos or felt pitched roofs. Suitable for coastal or corrosive environments. Withstands high wind forces.

Unlike some materials, Onduline's colour is integral throughout. Sheeting will not fade or discolour.

Onduline is virtually indestructible, rust-rot-frost resistant. Apart from occasional cleaning, maintenance is not required.

Onduline is ideal for re-sheeting damaged felt roofing.

Renovating Old Buildings

Onduline is idea for renovating old buildings in exposed regions, especially where roof timbers are old and uneven.

Onduline is lightweight at only 6.3kg per sheet. It puts minimum stress on roof timbers. It is therefore ideal for lightweight pitched roof structures and for oversheeting damaged mineral felt roofs and old deteriorating corrugated roof coverings.

Wind speed
With the predicted increase in gale force winds in the UK it is assuring to know that Onduline sheets are independently tested and proven to withstand speeds up to 120 mph (192 kph).

In a gale the most vulnerable part of a building is the roof. Tests carried out at the Yarsley Research Centre (UK) and in Miami and Metropolitan Dade County (USA) have proved Onduline suitable in hurricane and earthquake conditions. Tested at windspeeds up to 120mph.

Onduline has been tested at wind speeds up to 120mph (192km/h). At tests at the Yardley Research Centre have found Onduline suitable in hurricane and earthquake conditions.

CERTIFICATION

Onduline has BBA certification meaning that its quality and specification has been approved by the British Board of Agrement. It is also approved by most of the world's assessment authorities. Over Experience gained over 50 years confirms that the life expectancy of Onduline is many times that figure.

The Onduline Sheet Profile

What is CORROLINE ?
Corroline is a lightweight (thinner) version of Onduline produced by the Onduline manufacturer exclusively for a UK plastics company, who distribute it as a DIY product mainly through DIY stores in the UK. SLE Cladding Ltd does not stock or sell Corroline.

Genuine Onduline roofing sheets are easily identifiable by the printed I.D. branding on the dappled underside of the sheet and production quality control information applied to the top side of the last corrugation. Corroline does not have a BBA certification. Occasionally SLE Cladding Ltd receives reports of Corroline being sold as Onduline

CUTTING ONDULINE SHEETS.
SLE Cladding Ltd is often asked about cutting Onduline sheets as the bitumen content clogs the saw's teeth. The general advice received from regular professional users is to to take a bright clean saw with the largest of teeth and apply either WD40 or candle wax and clean and recoat regularly.
