It is critical that lead panels are allowed to move freely whilst still remaining watertight. This is best achieved by the use of a wood cored roll joint as illustrated. Multi-roll is supplied in 2.4 Metre lengths and is vac-vac treated against rot.
A full range of lead working tools are available, manufactured from beech. The range includes dressers (for flattening lead) bossing sticks, bending sticks and mallets (for shaping lead) setting in sticks (for setting corners) and chase wedges (for compressing lead wedges). It is often necessary to fix lead with an external fixing, the only decorative way too achieve this is with a lead Dot or Rose. Both are available with or without brass screws, the latter can be fixed to the lead sheet by lead burning

A range of slates in Code 4 lead is provided by the manufacturers. All are based on 450 x 450mm base with a 50 to 150mm upstands in either 30, 45, or 90 deg. (flat) patterns. Fix to tiling battens with copper nails and coat slate with patination oil to prevent white staining. Lead funnels are available in 2.25" (57mm) dia. These are used to form the outlet on a timber or cast iron gutter, and it should be sealed in place using Multi-point. The outlet will fit into a standard 2.5 plastic downpipe &1/4

MULTICLIP. To prevent lead flashings from lifting in high winds use Multi-clip terne coated stainless steel clips. (TCSS). This is supplied in 25m coils which can be cut to the desired length. The strength of the clip depends upon where it is fixed, the lower the fixing the stronger the clip. (see illustration). Clips can be used on vertical, inclined or horizontal leadwork.

MULTI-SLATE. Code 4 lead. Takes outside diameter pipes 25 to 160mm. Two sizes, flat to 20 deg. and 20 to 40 deg. Flue pipes up to a constant 100 deg. C.
