The Ruberoid Coldseal self-adhesive roofing system has been designed to remove the requirement for hot bitumen and naked flames foe anyone installing roofing membranes
Coldseal is a two-layer high performance system, which was originally developed for small roofs, such as those over garages, porches, extensions and dormer windows etc. however, the fire safe benefits of Coldseal are equally applicable for large commercial projects
The self-adhesive application process, using no hot bitumen, gas torches or large amounts of messy liquids, makes it an ideal option foe experienced contractors or competent DIY installers alike.

Coldseal Capsheet
Coldseal Capsheet is manufactured with a high performance polyester base, coated with SBS modified bitumen. The upper surface is finished with slate mineral. The underside is protected by a release film, which is removed during installation. The Coldseal slate mineral has a 75mm selvedge foe ease of lap jointing.
Coldseal Underlay
The Coldseal underlay is manufactured with an inert glass fibre base, coated with SBS modified bitumen. The upper surface has a non-removable polyethylene film, with a removable release film to the underside
Both the capsheet and the underlay have a specially formulated self-adhesive in the coating.
Ruberoid Lap Mastic.
Ruberoid lap mastic is available in 310ml cartridges for use with a conventional skeleton gun, for providing additional security in the sealing of end laps and detail work
Coverage rate :- A 310ml cartridge should contain enough adhesive to seal at least 3 linear metres of lap joint.
Ruberoid Self Adhesive Primer.
Ruberoid self-adhesive primer should always be used when preparing surfaces to receive Coldseal membranes.

Application
Ruberoid Coldseal roofing membranes should be installed generally in accordance with BS 8217: 1994 Code of Practice for - Built-up Felt Roofing and Ruberoid fixing instructions.
Coldseal roofing is applied as a 2-layer system, bonded by the removal of the release film on the reverse of the product, in accordance with the detailed "Step by Step" fixing instructions available from Ruberoid and reproduced on this website. In cool weather conditions, the use of a hot gun air will assist the self-adhesive bond of the coating at lap joints. N.B. Hot bitumen or gas torches should not be used.
