SILVACOTE

ALUMINIUM SOLAR REFLECTIVE PAINT

SOLAR PROTECT

Direct sunlight can have a significant effect on roofing materials. The heat of the day can cause them to expand until evening when, as the roof cools, the coating contracts again. Repeated on a daily basis, this can create areas of weakness and material breakdown in a roof coating. Because bitumen is black it absorbs heat rather than reflecting it, so it is prone to the effects outlined above and this drastically reduces the life expectancy of the roof coating.

With the application of a suitable solar protective layer the problems above can be dramatically reduced to enable the waterproofing layer to last a great deal longer. The main colour choices are basically silver or white (Reflect for pitched roofs and Supersol) Other colours such as those provided by the waterproofing compound Tection can only be considered as decorative materials although they should offer some improvements as black is the colour that will absorb the heat most.

A premium grade product Alubit is also available.
